Statement of Intent
The Castle Hotel is a small hotel, restaurant and bar, offering a friendly service that is responsive to the needs of the customers.

Whilst the physical limitations of the existing building may impose some consternates of what the Castle Hotel is able to do, the Castle Hotel fully intends to comply with current regulations and good practice. The Castle Hotel wish to make their ground floor of their premises as accessible as possible, in line with local Planning Policy and obligations imposed on the Castle Hotel as service providers under the Disability Discrimination ct 1995.

In terms of the Castle Hotel's ongoing management obligations under the DDA, the company intend to undertake regular staff training in order to ensure a continued assessable service. The nature of the building and conservation issues means that it is impossible to make the upper floor fully assessable.

The Castle Hotel intends to obtain feed back from regular clients in the form of informal discussions and a brief questionnaire.

The Approach
There is a level approach from street level to the main entrance of the Bar area of the Hotel.

Guide Dogs are welcome in the Bar and Restaurant.

Car Parking
There is on street car parking close to the Hotel.

There is also a Public Car Park with allocated bays for Blue Badge Holders within a short distance.

Counter Service Area
There is no provision for a low counter at the bar. A table service / assistance will be made available to all customers who are unable to safely carry / collect drinks from the bar and transport them to the tables.

Loose furniture will be moved by staff as necessary to maintain clear and safe access routes.

The lighting over the reception area can be increased to assist staff and people who require a higher level of lighting to lip read.

Hotel staff will assist with carrying of customer's luggage if required.

Toilet Facilities
The W.C. facilities on the ground floor include and accessible toilet. The space and layout of the toilet meet the requirements of the local building regulations.

Décor
The colour scheme will be chosen to highlight walls, floor, counter doors and ironmongery.

Evacuation
In an emergency, customers will equate through the entrance door. An alternative exit area is also fully accessible. Staff will undergo basic training in evacuation procedures and will be responsible for getting customers out of the building. Fire alarm system is installed.

Exit Doors
Fire doors at various locations are fitted with large lever handle with "Fire Exit" signs.

Staff Training
Staff Training in Disability awareness will be undertaken as part of the Castle Hotel's current ongoing staff development programme.

Other
The Castle Hotel is situated in the centre of Aberaeron. There is a local Taxi service in Aberaeron which can be booked for you at reception. There is a regular bus service in town in every direction. The nearest Train Station is at Aberystwyth – 16 miles away.
